18 top tips on how to survive your year at TIAS

Annelot Klaassen’s year as a Full-time MScBA student is nearly coming to an end. In her last blog, Annelot wrote about her experience at TIAS. In this blog, she wants to give the upcoming class of international MScBA students some practical tips on how to ‘’survive’’ the coming year. helpful-tips
Annelot: ‘’I’m pretty sure that all the blogs prior to this one already covered everything you can do at TIAS. I won’t bore you with those details, you have obviously already chosen for TIAS and rightly so. Instead, I will give you a list of thoughts and tips for the coming year:’’

1. If you want to know more about TIAS, read the blogs prior to this one
2. Don’t come in late unless you like to be yelled at
3. You can upload your student card on to your OV-card
4. Kingsday is on the 27th of April, it has been for a while now (mark this in your calendar)
5. There will be courses that you love and will score low on
6. There will be courses that you hate and will score high on
7. Give new and unfamiliar experiences and people a chance
8. TIAS is easy, if you put in the work, you will make it
9. Don’t lose your Dopper. Dopper is your friend
10. Be wise, don’t plagiarize
11. The bananas are always gone. Run, if you want a banana
12. Re-use your cups (or feel the wrath of the TSC)
13. ‘Borrow’ bigger cups at the supermarket around the corner
14. On a night out, don’t leave people behind with the bill (you know who you are)
15. It’s okay if you don’t know what you want to do after this (Man, I don’t even know yet)
16. Start writing down things you find interesting early on, this will be useful at the end of the year when you will have to start thinking of a topic for your thesis
